In The Headlines…..
February 11th, 2008 by Lou
Why haven’t I been posting more consistently? Too damn busy, that’s why. But today is Monday, and I’m hoping to post something else on Wednesday. Maybe even Friday night too. I’m trying HARD but it just never seems to be hard ENOUGH. I want to post here three times a week (at least) because I enjoy keeping this blog. In fact, I’m pretty sure there’s at least one individual out there in the world that reads my blog once in a while and keeps track of my life (or at least pretends to?) and for that one individual I’ll keep it up. If you really are out there, comment or something. Ha ha.
School has been the best. This semester I’m taking History of Music of the New World (a history of steel pan music and its development, go look it up), Music Theory 2 (intermediate music theory), Applied Primary Instrument 1 (basically the practical side of my degree - meeting once a week with my piano tutor to beef up technique and improve my repertoire) and Fundamentals of Writing (a writing course). I’m enjoying all of these courses very much, even though they can be demanding. I chose 5 courses originally but right now I can only do 4 because of the amount of time they all require from me outside of class. Practicing piano takes up so much time. Other than that, it’s nice being around people that understand where I’m coming from when I talk about what I love the most - music. Speaking of which, I’ve entered the Trinidad & Tobago Music Festival in the ladies’ trio class. One of the ladies I go to school with needed an alto for a trio and decided I was just the alto she needed. It’s going really well and I’ve discovered that my voice isn’t half bad. Not that I’m the next Whitney Houston or anything, but still.
I wish I could be as bubbly about my health. Last week I was constantly craving fried chicken and binged every night. Last weekend I was sick - cold sweating, dizziness, head ache, dry mouth and really really weak. My mother suggested I get a diabetes test because I might be prediabetic. And then I discovered I have a tiny chip in one of my teeth. Now I have to go to the dentist and I really can’t afford it right now. Why do dentists have to be so damn expensive?
My last entry was entitled ‘Ode To A Really Bad Start’. Now Despair.nu requires that you comment on all the blog links they send you, right? If you’re going to comment on something, please try to say something more meaningful than ‘that’s a really sad poem’. I thought I had gotten the point across that I was more concerned with talking about the actual story of the poem than the poem itself. But anyway, it’s cool.
See you Wednesday.
